A Day at the Institute

You’ll spend each day at the Institute immersed in piano with leaders in the field and other young pianists just like you. You’ll also get to know your way around University Circle, Cleveland’s premier walkable arts district.

A typical day at the Institute may look as follows:

Morning

  • Eurythmics with Brian Sweigart, Head of Eurhythmics Department, Cleveland Institute of Music
  • Private Lesson with Institute Faculty Member
  • Practice Time
  • Lunch

Afternoon

  • Workshop with Institute Faculty or Teaching Artist.

    Topics include:

    • Piano Improvisation, with Steinway Artist
    • Being a Professional, with , Artist Manager at MKI Artists
    • Preparing for Competition Success, with 2018 Cleveland International Piano Competition for Young Artists winner,
  • Practice Time
  • Masterclass with CIPC for Young Artists Jury Member or Institute Faculty.

Evening

Evenings at the Institute will include dinner and a variety of activities such as:

  • Practicing in CIM’s state of the art practice rooms.
  • Attending a Guest Artist Recital by renowned teachers and performers.
  • Exploring Cleveland by heading The Cleveland Orchestra in concert at Blossom Music Center, take a private tour of the world-renowned Cleveland Museum of Art, or experience the Cleveland Guardians bring home a win!
