Get to Know Our Partners

While we had hoped to present our Listening Series in person at these incredible local venues, we are thrilled to celebrate our partners and the work they do in bringing art to Cleveland audiences around the city.

The BOP STOP

About
Donated to The Music Settlement in late 2013, BOP STOP is Cleveland’s premier destination to experience high-quality live music in an intimate setting. The venue has presented over 1,700 concerts featuring nearly 165 Grammy winners and nominees. In 2019, BOP STOP was voted as “Best Jazz Club in America” by readers of All About Jazz. When you buy tickets to a show, food, and drinks, your purchase supports The Music Settlement and its many programs including music instruction, early childhood education, and music therapy.

Praxis Fiber Workshop

About
Praxis Fiber Workshop is an artist-run fiber and textile studio whose mission is to further the field of fiber art in the Northeast Ohio region by providing exhibitions, equipment, classes, and studio space to artists and community members. Located in the Waterloo Arts District on the eastside of Cleveland, Praxis is dedicated to creating an environment of experimentation and collaboration, both locally and beyond.

Through its creation, Praxis has helped to preserve an array of fiber equipment, including 17 floor looms and an array of dyeing equipment, to create the nonprofit workspace facility. Without Praxis, this incredible equipment, which has taught artists for decades, would have been stored or given away bit by bit. Without the studio space that Praxis provides, fiber art making would be less accessible to the community and to the generation of emerging artists who show a resurgence of passion for this field. Most recently, Praxis expanded its campus to create a Digital Weaving Lab, which houses state-of-the-art computer assisted looms and a residency program for artists to come to Cleveland to utilize them. Through its efforts, Praxis seeks to help make Cleveland an artistic destination within the United States and the entire world.

The Gilmour Academy

About
In December 2016, Gilmour Academy began the process of becoming a Steinway Select K-12 School with the addition of three new Steinway & Sons grand pianos at its Lower School. In the ensuing four years, every piano on campus has been replaced with a new Steinway & Sons piano. There are now a total of ten Steinway pianos on campus, including a Steinway Model D Concert Grand, housed in the school’s new Lorraine and Bill Dodero Center for Performing Arts, and two Steinway Spirio pianos.

Gilmour is the first private K-12 school in the Midwest and only the ninth in the country to earn the Steinway Select K-12 School designation. This distinction is bestowed on qualifying institutions that consist of kindergarten through 12th grade and is an extension of the All-Steinway School honors that Steinway & Sons grants to the world’s best colleges, universities, conservatories, and schools of music. Approximately 175 prestigious American institutions of higher learning and international conservatories throughout Europe, Asia, and Africa share the All-Steinway School distinction.

This investment in best-in-class equipment was made possible by donations from the late Matthew P. Figgie ’84, The Figgie Foundation and Figgie Capital.

Gilmour Academy is a Catholic, independent, coeducational, college-preparatory school. It is sponsored by the Congregation of Holy Cross, Notre Dame, Ind., and offers a Montessori program beginning at 18-months-old and a Lower School, Middle School and Upper School. A boarding program is offered to students in Grades 7 through 12. It is located at 34001 Cedar Road in Gates Mills, Ohio.
