CIPC extends its deepest thanks to Mr. and Mrs. A. Malachi Mixon III, who have pledged their commitment to present the Mixon First Prize of $50,000 for the 2013 Competition and for the next four Competitions to follow.  The Mixons have been presenting the first prize since 2005, making their total commitment to date $450,000.

Mr. Mixon is chairman of Invacare, a global leader in the home and long-term care medical care industries.  He serves on the boards of many Cleveland-area corporations and civic organizations, including Chairman Emeritus of the Cleveland Clinic and Chairman of the Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM).  In 2007, CIM opened Mixon Hall, a state-of-the-art performance hall named for him.  Mr. and Mrs. Mixon are both devoted patrons of the arts, and share a particular love of classical music.  Mr. Mixon is a pianist and enjoys playing for family and friends in their Hunting Valley, Ohio home.

We are sincerely grateful for their generosity to the Competition and for their ongoing support of the arts in Greater Cleveland.
